Graff Breeding and Plantas Floravalles partner on Hibiscus

Floravalles, a family-driven nursery and breeding company in the Canary Islands, and Graff Breeding, a breeder in Mediterranean crops announce their global strategic partnership focused on rolling out the Floravalles Unique Patio Hibiscus selection (Mybiscus®) to customers worldwide. The collaboration enables a global rollout of Floravalles Hibiscus through Graff Breeding's existing network and new customers worldwide.

Customers can expect a wide palette of colored Hibiscus from the Canary breeding and can still expect unrooted and rooted cuttings through the Graff Breeding network.

Speaking about the global strategic partnership, Donio Urumov, Director & Head of Breeding at Floravalles, states: "We are happy, and it is with great expectations and a good feeling that we have chosen Graff Breeding to represent our more than 15 years of breeding work and the new unique varieties we have selected, which are now ready for global introduction. Our shared commitment and passion for quality and uniqueness will ensure that customers receive exceptional colorful and color-combined products that meet their high-end consumers' expectations."

Jacob Graff, CEO of Graff Breeding, added: "The collaboration between Plantas Floravalles and Graff Breeding represents an optimal synergy of values and goals. By having Floravalles join our global platform, we can unlock new opportunities, new segments, and bring the most beautiful, unique, and vibrant colors to customers and consumers worldwide. Together, we will try our best to create a great start for the new Hibiscus concept, 'Mybiscus'."

The first blooming Floravalles 'Mybiscus' will be showcased during Flower Trails in the Graff Breeding booth at the Royal van Zanten location in week 24.

ql 1 variant.jpg

At Graff Breeding A/S we trust in our ability to be continuously inspired by nature and its shapes, colors and unique possibilities. That is why, we for more than 30 years have bred Hibiscus, last years have added Poinsettia and Dipladenia / Mandevilla, to bring forth natures many jewels for our customers and their consumers home and gardens around the world.

The latest product that have inspired us and our breeding work is Lavender, and we are happy to announce, the introduction of our first Lavandula Stoechas (French Lavender); Q-dula® Purple Eternity.

Q-dula® Purple Eternity has been selected for commercial trial among thousands of interesting Stoechas due to:

  •  Uniformity and plant health

  •  Continuously flowering / re-blooming

  •  Consumer / garden value

  •  Transport capability

  •  Strong up-right growth

  •  Suitable for pot 9 cm. and up

  •  Suitable for Patio Combinations

ql 1.jpg

Q-dula® is the tradename for our new Lavender breeding line and match our other lines of genetics like HibisQs®, Q-deville® and Q-ismas Star®. We have decided to work with flower brands, where we use the letter “Q” in all our genetic lines, due to;

  • “Q” reflects Quality and uniQue products

  • The letter “Q” is often used as an alternative to the female sign ♀

  • “Q” gives a red line through our breeding, which we call Q-genetic

Q-dula® Purple Eternity is reblooming again and again after +/- 3 weeks, why it gives the end consumers high Patio or Garden value / performance. Furthermore, the habit makes it very interesting for combinations, eventually with Mandevilla, Hibiscus or other major Patio plants.

Q-dula® Purple Eternity QL1 has been commercially tested in both South and North-Europa. Here it has proved its uniformity, plant health, upright growth, and capability for modern production methods in smaller pots – and outdoor production in larger containers.

Availability

Q-dula® Purple Eternity (QL1) cuttings are available for commercial trial production delivery from January 1 2021.

Our Q-deville® varieties got named

We are proud to finally announce the names for 3 of our already tested and introduced Q-deville® varieties. To be respectful towards the crop Dipladenia / Mandevilla, we have decided to name our assortment after the strong Amazon Warriors.

The varieties we would like to introduce are Marpe (Pink), Clete (Red) and Ainia(White). Common for the 3 varieties are that they are natural compact, rich flowering Dipladenia / Mandevilla types that will bring joy to every balcony, garden or pot that they are placed in.
